Laren’s Books and Gifts Opens in Buffalo, Wyo.: Last week marked the soft opening for Laren and Janet Hansen’s new bookstore that sells Wyoming-inspired books and gift. Laren Hansen was a sales rep for Books Are Fun and runs a mobile bookstore that goes to schools and senior centers throughout the state. A grand opening is slated for later this month.
Main Point Books to Move at End of July: Cathy Fiebach is moving her three-year-old bookstore from Bryn Mawr, Pa., to a larger space in Wayne, the former home of the recently closed The Readers’ Forum. A local real estate developer offered her incentives to make the move to the 2,200 sq. ft. location from her current 1,700 sq. ft. space.
B&N in Wellington, Fla., Shut Because of Suspicious Package: A Barnes & Noble bookstore was one of several businesses closed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad Wednesday afternoon while it detonated a suspicious package nearby. Customers waited inside the kids section (away from windows) for five hours before they were given the all clear.
Alaska’s Old Harbor Books Turns 40: The Sitka bookstore is celebrating the big day with a cake, balloons, and giveaways on May 7. Originally open as a collective by three couples, and is still owned by most of the original founders.
