Nook Press, Barnes & Noble’s self-publishing platform, has launched a self-service option that allows eligible Nook Press authors to create hardcover and paperback editions of their titles and sell them via B&N stores nationwide. The new program also offers eligible Nook Press authors the opportunity to hold in-store events at B&N stores to sell their titles and host discussions.
The Nook Press print program is available to any e-book title by a Nook Press author that has sold at least 1,000 copies in the past year. Eligible Nook Press titles can be sold via any B&N store or via BN.com. In addition, any Nook Press e-book title with unit sales of at least 500 over the past year can qualify to hold in-store event—including book signings, discussions—and sell print editions of their books during those events.
To have their books considered for the print program, Nook Press authors must submit their print titles for review to the B&N Small Press Department.
Fred Argir, chief digital officer at B&N, said in a statement: “Barnes & Noble is proud to be the first to offer coordinated, national distribution for self-published authors who will benefit from in-store placement at Barnes & Noble stores and online at BN.com. We are thrilled to lead the movement to innovate the self-publishing industry by leveraging our stores nationwide."
