Google has launched an updated Google Play Books app that will introduce Discover, a feature that helps readers with book discovery by allowing them to search for books by collecting a variety of book-related news, reviews, and videos. The Discover feature is available now in the Google Play Books app for the Android OS and will be added to the iOS platform, and to the Web, in the future.
The Discover feature is designed to assist readers in purchasing new titles via Google Play Books. The feature will link to book stories from around the Web, aggregating news on film adaptations, radio interviews, and other book-related content.
The Discover feature will scan book-related news and reviews, based on books readers have already read on their Play Books app, pulling out certain titles and offering free samples and previews.
The new app feature will also deliver Weekly Highlights, a roundup of the week’s book news delivered as a digest. Other content inclues Google Play Editorial, which features original essays, author interviews, and book selections compiled by the Google Play Books editorial staff.
