At Winter Institute 12 in Minneapolis, Publishers Weekly announced the shortlist for the 2017 PW Bookstore and Sales Rep of the Year Awards, which single out outstanding contributors to the bookselling industry.
“Publishers Weekly has been proud to sponsor the awards for more than two decades. This year’s nominees for the 2017 PW Bookstore of the Year Awards shine a light on some of the most creative and energetic bookstores in the business,” said PW executive v-p and publisher Cevin Bryerman. “The awards come at a time when many experienced a strong year despite the tumultuous election. One finalist recently doubled its space, another opened a second location. All are community leaders.”
This year’s bookstore finalists represent a broad range of independent bookstores from across the country, both newer stores and long-established ones. Three sales representatives are affiliated with large houses, one is with a distribution group, another with an independent rep group.
The PW Awards have been given for more than two decades. This year’s winners will be named in March and will be featured in the pre-BookExpo edition of Publishers Weekly magazine on May 15. The awards will be presented at the Celebration of Bookselling at BookExpo in New York City.
