Books Are Magic Sees Strong First Weekend Sales: Author Emma Straub's new bookstore, Books Are Magic, opened this weekend in Brooklyn's Cobble Hill neighborhood riding a wave of press attention. Owners Michael Fusco-Straub and Emma Straub told PW that the store sold "over 2,700 books in the first three days," with a rough breakdown of 1,100 on Saturday (Independent Bookstore Day), 900 on Sunday, and 700 on Monday. Fusco-Straub noted that sales were strongest in adult bestsellers, as well as middle grade.
