Moon Units
Artemis by Andy Weir, which lands at #7 in Hardcover Fiction, takes its name from the near-future lunar city in which the novel is set. Our starred review called the book’s heroine, Jazz Bashara—a porter who supplements her income by smuggling contraband—an “independent, wisecracking lead” who “could easily sustain a series.” It’s Weir’s first novel since his 2014 debut The Martian, and it’s off to a far stronger start than its bestselling predecessor.
New & Notable
Oathbringer
Brandon Sanderson
#1 Hardcover Fiction, #2 overall
The third installment of a planned 10-book series called the Stormlight Archive enjoyed the best first-week print unit sales for the series to date, moving almost double the number that the second book, 2014’s Words of Radiance, did in its first week.
Promise Me, Dad
Joe Biden
#1 Hardcover Nonfiction, #7 overall
In this memoir, the first title in a three-book deal with Flatiron, the former vice-president recalls his son Beau’s illness and death, and what it was like to mourn while in the public eye.
Future Home of the Living God
Louise Erdrich
#21 Hardcover Fiction
Erdrich’s cautionary tale, set in a near future when pregnant women are rounded up by the government in a bid to save the species, is “strikingly relevant,” our review said.
