Amazon, via its Amazon Charts unit, has released a number of charts showing how various products--including print books, e-books and audiobooks--performed in the Amazon ecosystem.
Among the most relevant findings for the publishing community is the Top 10 most-read (not sold) Kindle and Audible books. The five top titles in that category were The Handmaid’s Tale, followed by It, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, A Game of Thrones, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The five most-read nonfiction titles were The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, Hillbilly Elegy, Sapiens, Alexander Hamilton, and Born a Crime.
In some other Amazon-created categories, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck was the most wished-for book, while Oathbringer was the top “unputdownable” book--the book people read the most of in one sitting.
The five most gifted children’s books in the year were Giraffes Can’t Dance, First 100 Words, Goodnight Moon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Going to Bed Book. On the adult side, Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook, Milk and Honey, Hillbilly Elegy, You are a Badass and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck were the five most-gifted titles.
