Scholastic is the latest publisher offering special terms for independent booksellers who want to transition to direct ordering in the wake of the news that Baker & Taylor's is exiting the retail wholesale business.
Scholastic's terms were outlined in a press release, whose highlights include:
1) Scholastic will institute its 'Holiday Express Ship Program' effective June 1. Backlist orders placed directly with Scholastic between June 1, 2019 and August 30, 2019 will receive express, two-day shipping for the summer.
2) The publisher is extending its backlist stock offer to July 31, 2019. With this offer, booksellers have the choice of an additional 2% discount, or delayed billing until the extended date of October 15.
