Starting on July 25, 2022, the American Booksellers Association will begin a phased rollout of new IndieCommerce 2.0 websites. The existing websites on the current IndieCommerce and IndieLite platforms will continue to be fully supported until every store has been moved to its new 2.0 website.
The migration to 2.0 will continue through October 31. Beginning November 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022, the ABA will temporarily pause adding new sites during the holiday shopping season, and restart the migration process again on January 1.
Rollout will begin with new stores that recently joined IndieCommerce, IndieLite stores, and some IndieCommerce stores that have a limited need for advanced features, ABA said. Stores with more complicated needs will be transitioned later.
Some of the new features of the new platform include ADA compliance modifications and integration with almost all major bookstore point of sales systems. The ability to offer real-time postage quotes from the U.S. Postal Service is in the works.
