Pamela Klinger-Horn, the founder and coordinator of the Literature Lovers Night Out (LLNO) speakers program, announced yesterday that it is partnering with Cream & Amber, a combination bookstore, coffee shop, and bar, in Hopkins, Minn. so that LLNO events will once again take place in the Minneapolis suburbs. The seven-year program is currently affiliated with Valley Booksellers in Stillwater, Minn., which hosts it offsite at venues in the St. Paul suburbs.
LLNO events are held in the spring and in the fall and typically feature four authors – a mix of national names and regional favorites -- speaking about their latest work to audiences that range between 100-300 people. The ticketed events also feature food, drink, prizes – and, of course, books for sale.
Klinger-Horn launched LLNO at Excelsior Bay Books in Excelsior, Minn. in 2015, and expanded to Valley Booksellers in 2017, so that authors appeared on either side of the Twin Cities metro area on consecutive evenings. Excelsior Bay dropped its affiliation with LLNO in 2020.
The 2023 season will kick off in February. Novelist Lorna Landvik will appear solo on two evenings; on February 8, she will speak at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, hosted by Cream & Amber, and then on another evening, she will be hosted in Stillwater by Valley Booksellers – that event has not been scheduled yet. Landvik's previous appearances with LLNO have drawn upwards of 200 people.
