Sales Snapshot
Collaborations, the fourth installment of Dav Pilkey’s Cat Kid Comic Club series, is the #1 book in the country. It topped several regions across the U.S. as well as the West Coast. The week’s other big debut, the favorite in New England, is A World of Curiosities, which our starred review called Louise Penny’s “virtuoso” 18th novel featuring Chief Insp. Armand Gamache of the Québec Sûreté.
Murder, She Wrote
At #11 on our children’s fiction list, Five Survive is the first standalone novel from by Holly Jackson, author of the YA series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. “Six Philadelphia teenagers’ spring break road trip turns deadly after they get lost in South Carolina in this nail-biting thriller,” per our review. The action unfolds over a tense eight hours, Jackson told PW in a prepub interview—“the same amount of time it takes to read the book,” she said. “It was quite a claustrophobic, uncomfortable story to write, and I hope it reads that way too.”
