New York-based independent bookseller McNally Jackson Books announced on March 15 that it will be moving its original Manhattan location to a "larger" and "sturdier" building down the street.
Established in 2014, McNally Jackson Books has five brick and mortar stores in New York, including one in Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Seaport and at Rockefeller Center. It has occupied the space at 52 Prince St. in Manhattan's NoLita neighborhood for 19 years. Moving just a few blocks down, the address of its new store is 134 Prince St., and owner Sarah McNally says the rent is the same.
"In the Rockefeller Center bookstore, we expanded and changed the way we sell nonfiction. The new NoLita store will do the same, with vastly more history, politics, essay, and memoir," says McNally about what changes visitors to its new location can expect.
Feeling sentimental, store owners have invited its frequent patrons to bid adieu to its old store by sharing their favorite memories made on social media. According to McNally's announcement, the last day of operation at its old address will be March 21.
