Dav Pilkey’s fifth Cat Kid Comic Club volume, Influencers, is the #1 book in the country and holds sway over several regions across the U.S. A couple of backlist picture books had their own followers: 2020’s I Love You Like No Otter by Rose Rossner and Sydney Hanson won hearts in the East North Central region, and 2016’s How to Catch an Elf by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton nabbed the top spot in the East South Central and West North Central regions.
All Bets Are On
Lynn Painter’s Betting on You, which our review called “an entertaining low-conflict romp,” lands at #14 on our children’s fiction list. Painter alternates between writing teen and adult rom-coms; her 2021 debut, the YA romance Better Than the Movies, has gone on to sell 272K print copies, and the new trade paperback edition of her second YA novel, 2022’s The Do-Over, is #10 on our children’s fiction list.
