For the sixth consecutive year, two booksellers, ThriftBooks and Lifeway Christian Resources, have been named to Newsweek's annual list of the 500 Best Online Shops, announced Wednesday.
Seattle-based ThriftBooks has sold exclusively online since it was founded in 2003 and now claims to be the world's largest seller of used books. It was ranked first in the media category that includes sellers of books, CDs, DVDs and software.
Following at the second spot was Nashville-based Lifeway, which closed its 170 brick-and-mortar stores in 2019 and invested in upgrading its online shop, which specializes in Christian books. Neftali Alverio, interim chief information technology officer, saluted their staff in a press release, noting updates in their account management features and improvements in search and checkout functions.
Newsweek partnered with marketing and business intelligence platform Statista and surveyed 3,000 shoppers to whittle down a field of 9,500 online shops in the US and create rankings in 25 categories, according to Newsweek's announcement.
