1/5 Jonathan Luna Signs "Star Bright and the Looking Glass" in Annapolis, MD

Comics creator Jonathan Luna, co-creator of The Sword and Ultra will appear at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, 1/5, he will be signing and discussing his new graphic novel. The event is free to the public, and the first 15 guests receive a special free gift. 1/9 Brian Wood "Star Wars #1" Release Party and Trivia Game in New York, NY

Acclaimed comics writer and creator Brian Wood will be celebrating the release of the first issues of his new comic, the relauched Star Wars, with a party and trivia contest at Midtown Comics Downtown. The signing begins at 6:30 p.m. and the trivia contest begins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 1/9. Co-created artist Carlos D'Anda, the new Dark Horse comic is returns to the era directly after the destruction of the Death Star. The downtown Midtown Comics is located at 64 Fulton Street, New York, NY.

1/12 Center for Cartoon Studies Portfolio Day at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, CA

The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont is holding a portfolio review day and information session at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco from 11a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 12. Faculty and alumni in attendence will include Alec Longstreth, Jenny Hansen, Andy Warner and Jon Fine among others. There will be an overview of the school and its curriculum prospective student admissions portfolio reviews, art demonstrations, and a screening of the 75 minute documentary Cartoon College about the school.
