Meet writer and Dark Horse Comics founder and president Mike Richardson on Wednesday, July 9 from 6–9pm at Things From Another World in Beaverton, Oregon. Richardson will be marking the release of the 47 Ronin hardcover, collecting the five-issue miniseries written by Richardson and illustrated by Stan Sakai. The tale of the 47 Ronin is one of Japan's most famous and enduring legends, about a group of samurai who avenge the death of their lord years after he is unjustly forced to commit seppuku. 7/13: Eleanor Davis and Esther Pearl Watson in Seattle, WA
Cartoonists Eleanor Davis and Esther Pearl Watson will be appearing and signing their new books on Sunday, July 13 from 3–5pm at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery in Seattle, Washington. Davis's How To Be Happy is a collection of eclectic short stories in a variety of media including her fully-painted color panels. Unlovable Vol. 3 continues Watson's series of hilarious and tragic stories inspired by a found diary and illustrated in an intentionally janky and adolescent style.
