8/7: The Wrenchies Release Party in Portland, OR
To mark the release of his new graphic novel, The Wrenchies (First Second) cartoonist Farel Dalrymple will be appearing at Floating World Comics in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, August 7 from 6–10pm. The Wrenchies is a nonlinear and heady science fiction story about band of youths eking out survival in a sprawling dystopian wasteland. 8/8–8/10: Boston Comic Con in Boston, MA
Boston Comic Con is taking place from Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Porgramming includes panels and workshops such as "How to Pitch Your Comic," and "Self-Publishing in Independent Comics," creator Q&As, publisher spotlights, screenings, exhibitions, art auctions, gaming, cosplay, and more. Acclaimed cartoonist Jim Woodring will be signing copies of JIM (Fantagraphics), a new anthology of his work, on Saturday, August 9 from 6–8pm at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
