10/6: Gotham Academy Signing in Syracuse, NY
To celebrate the release of Gotham Academy #1 (DC Comics), join creators Becky Cloonan, Karl Kerschl, and Brenden Fletcher on Monday, Oct. 6 at 6pm at Cloud City Comics in Syracuse, New York. Gotham Academy follows new students Olive Silverlock and MAPS Mizoguchi as they manage high school life and the strange goings-on of the school. This event is free. 10/9–10/12: New York Comic Con in New York, NY
New York Comic Con, the East Coast's biggest and most popular convention is taking place begins on Thursday, Oct. 9 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Javits Center in New York, New York. NYCC offers fans a plethora of signings, screenings, panels, workshops, competitions, exclusives, artist alley, guests, art auctions, parties, giveaways, portfolio reviews, and more (search through the show's programming here). 10/10: Takeshi Obata in New York, NY
In conjunction with NYCC and New York Super Week, award-winning mangaka Takeshi Obata will be making multiple appearances throughout the New York City on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 10–11). Obata is the creator of wildly popular titles including Hikaru no Go, Death Note, and Bakumon. On Friday, he will be at the Javits Center from 5–5:45pm, and later at Kinokuniya Book Store at 8:30pm. On Saturday, he will be at Barnes & Noble Tribeca at 6pm. These signings are free (NYCC requires a ticket). Hyderabad Comic Con is taking place on October 10–12 at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, India. As part of Comic Con India, Hyderabad Comic Con offers Indian fans a everything they would want out of a convention, with comics, gaming, cosplay, author events, performances, exclusives and more, all celebrating the country's booming comic book industry. Guests include Ron Marz, Vivek Tiwary, and Nathan Edmondson. Single day tickets are 150–250 INR ($2.43–4.05); 3-Day Super Fan Passes are 650 INR ($10.53).
