IDW Holdings, the parent company of IDW Publishing (its graphic novel division) and IDW Entertainment (its TV and film division), has named Jonny Gutman IDWE v-p of sales, tapped Mark Doyle as IDW Publishing's editorial director of originals, and brought on Cassie Conaway as director of development at IDWE.
Newly appointed v-p of sales, Gutman will be responsible for overseeing creative development and production strategy for original scripted content. Gutman was previously senior director of longform premium content at Funny or Die; before that, he worked as a TV literary and packaging agent at the William Morris Agency.
Doyle, now editorial director of originals, will be responsible for acquiring and developing original materials for comic books and graphic novels and overseeing the house’s editorial strategy. Doyle was previously executive editor at DC Comics, where he served in that position for 14 years.
Conaway, IDWE’s new director of development, will be responsible for managing the development of a slate of drama and comedy programming based on graphic novels, prose works, and other material. She will work closely with development staff, showrunners, and other media partners to bring a variety of content to streaming, cable, broadcast, and other platforms. Before joining IDWE, Conaway was creative executive at AGBO Films, working on such shows as SYFY’s Deadly Class and Amazon’s Citadel.
In addition, Andy Behling has been promoted to senior coordinator for development and production at IDWE. He previously worked across the drama, comedy, kids, and family divisions at IDWE.
"In their short time with us, so far both Jonny and Cassie have made an incredible impact on IDW Entertainment," IDW Entertainment president Lydia Antonini said of the new hires. "Adding Mark into the mix as a collaborative partner on IDW Publishing originals will no doubt allow the company to continue its tremendous growth as a creative force."
