Holiday shopping got off to a good start over Thanksgiving week. Print unit sales rose 5% in the week ended November 30, 2014 compared to Thanksgiving week in 2013 at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan.
Sales were up through both the retail & club and mass merchandiser channels, with sales through mass merchandisers up 9% and sales through the retail & club channel increasing 4%.
Jeff Kinney’s The Long Haul was the top-selling book in the week, selling over 221,000 copies at outlets that report to BookScan. Disney annual holiday sales promotion helped to put eight of its titles high up on the bestsellers list, led by the Disney Junior Storybook Collection which sold just under 120,000 copies in the week.
