In its first quarterly filing since it went public earlier this year, the Hudson Group said revenue rose 9.2% in the first quarter ended March 31, rising to $426.8 million over the first period of 2017. Hudson Group, which is the parent company of Hudson Booksellers, broke even in the quarter, compared to a net loss of $5.4 million in the same period last year.
During the quarter, Hudson won agreements to open stores at the Phoenix Sky Harbor and Seattle-Tacoma airports, as well as the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. It also extended existing contracts in airports in Pittsburgh, New York, and Little Rock, Ark.
At the end of the quarter, Hudson operated 1,005 stores in 88 locations, primarily in airports. The company operates outlets under the Hudson, Hudson News and Hudson Bookseller names.
