Stephanie Madoff-Mack, daughter-in-law of Bernie and widow of Bernie's son Mark, sold a memoir to David Rosenthal at Penguin, for his just-launched imprint, Blue Rider Press. The book, which is scheduled for December 2011, will, the publisher promised, be the "first genuine inside account...of one of the great public scandals and private tragedies of our time."
Madoff-Mack, whose husband committed suicide in the wake of his father's titanic fall from grace, was represented by Steve Troha of Folio Literary Management in the deal.
Rosenthal took world rights and the book he said, which does not yet have a title, will tell a personal tale that is "heartbreaking, compelling and ultimately courageous." With the book Madoff-Mack, Penguin added, will also seek to tell her husband's story and give him "a voice."
