Tor Books has signed a deal with Paizo Inc. to publish a series of novels based on Paizo’s Pathfinder tabletop adventure games. Pathfinder Tales will launch in June with Lord of Runes by Dave Gross and five additional titles will be released on a bi-monthly basis.
Paizo has published Pathfinder Tales novels itself since 2010 but publisher Erik Mona said the agreement with Tor with give the line broader distribution in both print and digital formats. The trade paperback titles will be priced at $14.99. Editorial direction of the series will remain under James Sutter who is Paizo managing editor. The Pathfinder novels have been adopted from Paizo games built around the world of Golarion which features adventurers “fighting to survive in a sword-and-sorcery world beset by magic and evil,” according to Paizo.
Paizo's role playing Pathfinder games have been translated into five languages and have been licensed for computer games, comic books, and toys. Tom Doherty, Tor publisher, said the agreement with Paizo adds a role playing game dimension to Tor’s offerings.
