HarperCollins has become the latest publisher to reach an agreement with Amazon over sales terms. The publisher issued a statement late Monday that read: "HarperCollins has reached an agreement with Amazon and our books will continue to be available on the Amazon print and digital platforms." No details over terms were available.
The HC deal follows agreements reached by Amazon with three of the other Big 5 publishers—Hachette Book Group, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan. Those deals included a modified version of agency pricing, covered both print and digital books and were multiyear agreements. Earlier this month, the Business Insider ran a story a story saying that HC had declined to sign an agreement with Amazon similar to deals signed by the three other publishers. Harper declined to comment on the Insider story.
The only major publisher to not yet reach an new sales deal is Penguin Random House.
