Beginning in January, the Hachette Book Group will take over U.S. sales and distribution for Hachette UK. The move is part of the effort by HUK to have all its English-language sales handled within the Hachette family. Once the transition is made, HUK will end its relationship with Trafalgar Square Publishing.
HBG has been providing various sales and distribution services to HUK for years, including distribution into Canada, and North American services for the Octopus Books and Quercus Books imprints. Over the last year, HUK has been consolidating some of its remaining U.S. distribution relationships under HBG. In January, HBG began selling and distributing the bestselling Asterix line into the U.S. Starting in January 2016, HBG will sell and distribute HUK’s Chambers line of reference material, formerly distributed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
Ben Wright, international sales director of Hachette UK, said: “The move to working with HBG for all UK books distributed in North America is the latest step in the consolidating all our worldwide English-language sales arrangement within the Group.”
