In a deal that expands its e-book distribution capabilities, Independent Publishers Group has acquired e-book distributor Inscribe Digital from parent Isolation Network. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The purchase includes Inscribe's distribution platform, marketplace monitoring tool, the company's staff, and more than 65,000 e-books distributed by Inscribe for more than 300 publisher clients.
According to IPG, it will offer the use of Inscribe's platform to its existing distribution clients, while providing Inscribe's largely e-book publishers with new print distribution options. Just before BEA in early May, Inscribe became one of the first clients in IPG's Amphora program, which offers worldwide print distribution to e-book publishers.
Joe Matthews, IPG's CEO, said the purchase will "help position us as a technology leader in the distribution marketplace." IPG handles distribution for more than 1,000 publishers.
Anne Kubek, InScribe's executive v-p and general manager, will continue to direct the Inscribe team during a transitional period but will leave the company this fall.
