LSC Communications has acquired TriLiteral LLC, a company formed 16 years ago by three university presses to specialize in the distribution of books published by university and academic publishers. The three former owners of TriLiteral—Harvard University Press, MIT Press, and Yale University Press—have signed multi-year fulfillment with LSC and TriLiteral.
Dave McCree, president of book sales at LSC, which was spun off from R.R. Donnelley in October 2016, called TriLiteral "a tremendous strategic fit to our Book Publisher Services platform.”
In a publishing deal, Turner Publishing Company has acquired Gürze Books, a publisher that has specialized in books on eating disorders since 1980. The purchase involved about 40 titles. Its titles include Eating in the Light of the Moon by Anita Johnston and The Rules of “Normal” Eating by Karen R. Koenig.
Turner president and publisher Todd Bottorff said he will maintain the Gürze Books name has an imprint and plans to release more titles under the Gürze Books umbrella.
Bottorff has built the Nashville-based Turner through a series of acquisitions and the publisher now has a backlist of about 4,000 titles.
