Independent Publishers Group (IPG) has acquired the academic book distributor International Specialized Book Services (ISBS).
ISBS brings a list of more than 60 academic, scholarly, and professional publishers to IPG, where it will be merged with IPG’s own academic and professional publishing distribution program. ISBS client publishers will continue in their existing relationships with academic library wholesalers and suppliers, while also gaining access to IPG’s distribution channels, including national and independent retailers, wholesalers, public libraries, special market channels, and e-book retailers.
Paul Murphy, IPG’s v-p and managing director of its academic and professional publishing program. Jeff C. Charbonneau, CEO of ISBS, will jointly oversee the integration of ISBS.
"It’s exciting for us to add such high-quality content from the list of prominent academic publishers in the ISBS portfolio, Murphy said in a statement. "We look forward to working closely with the exceptional staff at ISBS to implement proven best practices to ensure we maintain and surpass the demands of our publishers, customers and readers."
