David Vigliano has bought back the assets of his eponymous literary agency from Y Entertainment Group.
The boutique firm was sold to Y Entertainment in 2014. (That same year Y Entertainment formed a lifestyle group called AGI.) Vigliano said he was "grateful for all I have learned from AGI’s constellation of superstar agents." He added: " I’m excited to take what I’ve learned and put it to use as I return to operating independently."
After working as an in-house book packager for what was then Warner Books, Vigliano started his agency in 1986. He went on to represent a number of high profile clients, specializing in celebrities. He remains the literary agent for lifestyle brand impresarios and authors Chip and Joanna Gaines. Vigliano, in a release about buying back the agency, Vigliano noted that the duo, who launched their celebrity on the HGTV show Fixer Upper, have sold over 2.5 millions copies to date.
Other notable clients of Vigliano's have included Prince, Willie Nelson, Mike Tyson, Suzanne Somers, David Mamet and the Rev. Jess Jackson.
Vigliano Associates will operate from a new location at 57 East 73rd St. in New York City.
