Capstone, the Minneapolis-based publisher of children’s books and K-5 ed-tech content including the PebbleGo databases for schools and consumers, has acquired Buncee, a digital creation, collaboration, and communication tool for students and educators. No price was disclosed
The purchase expands Capstone’s digital capabilities and enables students to use Buncee’s creator tools in tandem with Capstone’s curriculum-aligned content to “read and create” reports, journals, and other projects that demonstrate their understanding of subject matter.
In a statement announcing the deal, Capstone president Scott Sustacek said, “With about 40% of U.S. elementary schools using PebbleGo at the K-2 level and growing adoption of PebbleGo Next for grades 3-5, adding Buncee to our portfolio reinforces Capstone’s unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of educators and young learners.”
Buncee founder and CEO Marie Arturi focused on the new opportunities of the deal, noting this move significantly expands the reach of Buncee—putting our tools and support at the fingertips of millions more educators and students.”
Existing Buncee users will not see any changes in the product they are familiar with and Buncee tools are currently being integrated throughout Capstone’s various digital products. Capstone will share details of the integration with customers in the coming months and plans to have a “PebbleGo-plus-Buncee solution” ready for classroom use in early 2022.
