Sari Feldman, executive director of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, has been elected president of the American Library Association for the 2015-16 term.
An ALA member since 1990, Feldman’s activities include serving as president of the Public Library Association (PLA) (2009-10), chair of the ALA Office for Literacy/Outreach Services Advisory Committee (2000-2003) and she is currently co-chair of the ALA Digital Content and Libraries Working Group, where she has helped guide the ALA's e-book policies and overseen significant progress on the e-book issue on behalf of libraries.
Feldman is the recipient of the 2013 PLA Charlie Robinson Award, established to recognize innovative public library directors, and received a Cleveland Business Woman of Note award (2011) from Crain’s.
“I am deeply honored to be given the opportunity to serve libraries and library professionals as president of the American Library Association,” Feldman said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing the leadership commitment of current president Barbara Stripling and president-elect Courtney Young to support advocacy for all libraries by strengthening our ability to speak with a unified voice.”
