Bloomsbury and Marvel have signed a multi-year, multi-volume licensing agreement to develop and publish the Marvel Age of Comics series. According to the announcement, the new series will feature richly designed books exploring the history of more than 85 years of Marvel Comics.

Bloomsbury said Marvel Age of Comics will be similar in nature to its longrunning 33 1/3 series, a line of short books about popular music written by subject experts. In the case of Marvel Age of Comics, the series will range from deep dives into a comic storyline, notable runs, and works produced by creators who have made a noteworthy contribution to Marvel stories. Each book will include artwork from the comics and other reproduced materials from Marvel’s digital archives.

“Marvel Age of Comics will feature a broad range of writers who are fans, immersed in the world of comics and eager to tell readers what Marvel stories mean to them, as well as to popular culture,” said Haaris Naqvi, director of publishing at Bloomsbury USA, in a statement. Naqvi will edit the series alongside Bloomsbury USA’s editorial director, Leah Babb-Rosenfeld.

The first three titles are set to be published November 13 as 5 x 7 ¾–inch paperbacks, which will feature 25 illustrations per title and be priced at $14.95. Deluxe editions are expected to be released at a later date. The launch list features The Mighty Avengers vs. the 1970s by Paul Cornell, Daredevil: Born Again by Chris Ryall, and Doctor Strange: A Decade of Dark Magic by Stuart Moore. A fourth title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales by Ytasha L. Womack, is set for release in May 2026.
