Casey Affleck is set to star in the adaptation of John Williams' 1965 novel Stoner. The book, reissued by New York Review of Books in 2006 (after being originally published by Viking and then reissued by Vintage in 2003), became an international bestseller in the 21st century; it also was touted in some circles as one of the great unsung novels of the 20th century. It follows an English professor, William Stoner, facing disappointments in his marriage and career. Blumhouse Productions will produce the movie. (Variety)
