The YA novel Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart (Delacorte Press, Sept.) has been optioned by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner for Lionsgate. The book follows two similar-looking orphans, from starkly different backgrounds, whose lives become intertwined after a case of mistaken identity. PW said the book "blends the privileged glamour of We Were Liars with a twisty, backward-running plot that’s slick with cinematic violence." (The Tracking Board)
The 1952 National Book Award-winner Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison (Random House), in which a nameless African-American narrator charts his life (from his youth in the South to a short-lived stint in college and his subsequent move to Harlem), will be adapted into a series by Hulu. (Variety)
Switched On: A Memoir of Brain Change and Emotional Awakening by John Elder Robinson (Spiegel & Grau, 2016), about the brain therapy treatment the author underwent, has been acquired by Focus Features. (Deadline Hollywood)
