Barnes & Noble has appointed Gene DeFelice as v-p, general counsel & corporate secretary. DeFelice will be responsible for all legal matters regarding Barnes & Noble, Inc., and its subsidiaries, including management of outside counsel. He will provide guidance to the company and its Board of Directors on all corporate governance and Securities and Exchange Commission matters, including public disclosures. DeFelice was previously svp, general counsel & secretary of cloud infrastructure company Savvis, Inc.
Leah Wasielewski is joining HarperCollins on October 20 as marketing director. She will oversee fiction and nonfiction campaigns across all of the Harper imprints including Harper, Harper Business, and Broadside Books. She was most recently a senior publishing manager at Simon & Schuster.
Vantage Press has hired Joseph Pittman to lead its new consumer-driven Vantage Point imprint. Moving beyond the publisher’s subsidized lists, Vantage Point is a trade list that publishes selected Vantage Press titles as well as titles acquired from agents. Pittman will select eight to 12 titles for three seasonal lists each year. Pittman has held editorial positions at NAL/Dutton, Bantam Books, Alyson Books, and Bookspan.
