Well-known U.K. agent Sophie Hicks has hung up her own shingle. After 25 years as an agent at Ed Victor Ltd., she is launching the Sophie Hicks Agency, bringing her current client base with her and, as she explained in an announcement, looking for "fresh new voices yet to be discovered."
Among Hicks's clients is Eoin Colfer, author of (among other titles) the bestselling children's series Artemis Fowl. Colfer said of the move: "[Sophie] has changed my life over the past 14 years and I know she will continue to do so in the future."
Ed Victor, Hicks's former boss, also wished her well, saying that she will be "sorely missed," but that he wished her the best with her new agency.
