Starting today, Alessandra Bastagli has joined Nation Books as its new editorial director. Bastagli was most recently digital features editor at Al Jazeera America and before that was a book editor for 15 years at Arcade Publishing, W.W. Norton & Company, Palgrave Macmillan, and Free Press/Simon & Schuster. She is replacing Carl Bromley who has moved to New Press.
“Alessandra's breath of experience, editorial vision and understanding of where we want to take Nation Books is deeply impressive and exciting,” said Taya Kitman, executive editor of The Nation Institute, where Nation Books is housed. “We are delighted to welcome her to the imprint and look forward to working with Alessandra and our colleagues at Perseus to continue to grow the imprint and to find new authors who challenge conventional orthodoxies and help to make sense of this deeply complicated time.”
