Literary agent David Vigliano is selling his company, Vigliano Associates, to Y Entertainment Group, the entertainment subsidiary of Ron Burkle's private equity and venture capitalist firm, the Yucaipa Cos, according to the New York Post. The Post also reports that Vigliano will be at the helm of the group's literary unit, now renamed AGI Vigliano Literary LLC (the agency's site is already updated with the new name).
Vigliano founded the agency in 1986, and has represented high profile and celebrity authors such as Dr. Nicholas Perricone, Rocco Dispirito, Mike Tyson, and more recently, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. He told the Post that he decided to sell the company to Y Entertainment Group, which purchased Artist Group International in 2012, to give it "broader reach." He added, "More and more of our clients are interested in TV and it gives us a bigger pool of potential contacts.”
