Chris Murphy, who took over as head of Hachette Book Group's sales division following Evan Schnittman's departure in December, today announced a reorganization of the publisher's sales team. Murphy has promoted Dave Epstein to v-p of retail sales, where he will oversee sales of both adult and children's books to all traditional retail accounts. He was previously executive director of children's sales, and will hire a replacement to fill that position.
Also reporting to Epstein will be Andy LeCount who is promoted to executive director, chain sales. Linda Jamison is promoted to executive director of mass merchant sales. Tracy Dowd is now director of sales.
In his memo announcing the changes, Murphy made note of a number of promotions including that of Karen Torres who will become v-p of field sales and account marketing. Reporting to Torres are Mike Heuer, executive director of field sales and Melissa Nicholas, who is promoted to director of account marketing.
Billy Clark is promoted to v-p sales, retail analytics and client services, and will report to Murphy. Shiauping Shih, director of analytics, and Gary Davidson, v-p of CBA Sales, will now report into Clark.
David Bowers’ responsibilities are being realigned to focus on digital sales worldwide as well as print and digital account negotiations across all channels. His new title will be senior v-p digital sales, business development and strategy. He maintains responsibility for Amazon, Baker and Taylor and Ingram, and continues to report to Murphy.
Jean Griffin’s title remains the same as senior v-p international, Canada and special sales. She will oversee print sales internationally for HBG and our client publishers and report to Murphy.
