Reynold Levy, former head of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, has been elected to the board of the National Book Foundation.

David Steinberger, CEO of the Perseus Books Group and chair of the NBF, said Levy’s election is part of a larger effort by the NBF to raise the profile and awareness of the National Book Awards beyond the publishing industry. With his wide ranging relationships, Steinberger said the NBF hopes Levy can help broaden the circle of people who can "increase the impact of great books on the culture."

Prior to his 13-year tenure at Lincoln Center which ended last year, Levy has been president of the International Rescue Committee, the senior officer of AT&T in charge of government relations, president of the AT&T Foundation, executive director of the 92nd Street Y, and staff director of the Task Force on the New York City Fiscal Crisis

“The National Book Foundation’s work in promoting reading across the country has been exemplary,” noted Levy. “I very much look forward to helping expand that work with my fellow directors.”
