Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert has launched her first podcast series, called Magic Lessons. The 11-episode podcast, which debuted July 15, offers "wisdom and advice on living a creative life," and features guests such as Cheryl Strayed, Brené Brown, Ann Patchett and John Hodgman.
The podcast evolved out of Gilbert’s book, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, to be published by Riverhead on September 22.
“Even when I was finished with the book, I didn’t feel like I was really finished with the subject--so I wanted to make this podcast where I could take the subject of creativity out into the world and have real conversations with real people about it," said Gilbert.
This spring, Gilbert put out a call on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, asking her followers to submit their creative roadblocks. Of 2,100 submissions, Gilbert and Riverhead narrowed the list to five contributors. Gilbert will speak with the participant about her experience, and the following week, she will enlist a "guest expert for a different perspective on the issues raised by that participant."
New episodes of Magic Lessons will be available every Wednesday, through September.
