P.M. Sukumar, CEO of HarperCollins India, has decided to leave the company to pursue other Interests. HC announced his deparyre Wednesday afternoon, adding that a replacement for him will be named in the coming weeks.

Sukumar joined HarperCollins India in 2005 while it was part of a joint venture with Living Media India and oversaw its transition to a wholly-owned subsidiary of HarperCollins Publishers in 2012. In 2013, Collins Education was launched under his leadership. During Sukumar’s tenure, the company published commercial and critical successes in both English and Hindi.

Sukumar will be involved in the transition of the business, but after a new CEO is selected he or she will report to Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins UK. Sukumar had reported to HC CEO Brian Murray.
