After the death of its executive director Jackie Hushion, the Canadian Publishers' Council, has appointed David Swail as executive director on an interim basis, effective immediately. The announcement was made by CPC president, and publisher and CEO of Harlequin, Craig Swinwood.
Swail was president and CEO of McGraw-Hill Ryerson from 2006 to 2014, and, during that period, served as president of CPC for several terms. He has also been filling the role of officer responsible for copyright for CPC.
"In his interim capacity David will focus on the process of revising CPC’s mission, an undertaking that began earlier this year by Jackie and the officers," said Swinwood. "He will be reaching out shortly to heads of firms to confirm the subcommittees that will aid in that process."
