After 45 years with St. Martin’s Press, including 30 as the publisher of his own imprint, Thomas Dunne is moving into a new role at the publisher. Going forward, Dunne will oversee a smaller list of “several dozen” titles per year with a core group of Thomas Dunne Books staff members. The remainder of the imprint’s staff will join St. Martin’s.
In addition to Dunne, the new group will include executive editor Peter Joseph, associate editor Melanie Fried, and Dunne’s assistant Cameron Jones, and Dunne will continue to report to St. Martin’s publisher Sally Richardson.
The new list will feature “a mix of very commercial works and also books of unusual quality that might not fit the typical definition of commercial,” Dunne wrote in a note to Macmillan employees. “In other words, we will continue much as before. I am very excited to turn the page and begin a new and productive chapter of TD Books."
The change in responsibilities for Dunne follows the promotion two weeks ago of Jennifer Enderlin to St. Martin’s publisher.
