William Morrow has named Shelby Meizlik to the newly-created role of v-p of special events and creative strategies in an effort to expand the ways in which its publicity department promotes its authors. Kelly Rudolph has also been promoted to senior group publicity director, overseeing all imprints under the Morrow umbrella.
"From fan-based events to wide-reaching podcasts to celebrity book clubs to social media influencers, the creative ways in which we can connect our authors with readers is always expanding," Morrow deputy publisher Lynn Grady wrote in a letter to staff. "The time is now ripe to align our scope of expertise with evolving trends in the marketplace"
Meizlik will oversee publicity and promotional initiatives which include, the publisher said, non-traditional author and consumer events, identifying emerging platforms and influencers, developing strategic partnerships to build author awareness, and working with the marketing teams to take advantage of backlist opportunities.
Both Rudolph and Meizlik will report to Grady.
