Mark Warren has been named v-p and executive editor of the Random House imprint, effective October 16. Warren, who was most recently executive editor at Esquire, will acquire and edit a wide range of nonfiction, with a focus on politics and history.
During a tenure spanning more than two decades at Esquire, Warren oversaw the magazine's political coverage. He has worked with writers including C. J. Chivers, Ayad Akhtar, Maryanne Vollers, John Edgar Wideman, and Dave Eggers.
In 2008, Warren co-authored former U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid’s memoir, The Good Fight.
At RH, Warren will report to Andy Ward, v-p and editor-in-chief of little Random.
"Mark has the skills and intuition of a great editor, as well as the firsthand experience of an author—perspective and empathy that have earned the respect of the authors with whom he has worked," Ward said. "I believe his commitment to the editorial process, his instincts for news, and his natural warmth and collegiality make him perfect for our editorial team."
