Less than a month after the purchase of Carlton Books by Welbeck Publishing Group, the newly-formed company from Mark Smith and Marcus Leaver, the U.K.-based publisher has announced a new structure at Carlton.
Following the departure of publishing director Kirsty Bradbury, Wayne Davies will join Carlton as group publisher, nonfiction. Davies was cofounder and nonfiction publisher at Quercus, where fellow cofounder Smith was formerly CEO, and will join Carlton next week. Alex Allan, formerly head of the publishing team at DK, has been named interim group publisher, children’s, effective April 24.
“I have been looking to make some positive changes to how we structure and lead our publishing teams moving forward," Dean Chance, managing director of Carlton, said in a statement. "We are committed to maximising and growing the opportunities in children’s and adult’s nonfiction by giving more individual focus to the respective teams. As a result, we will be splitting the leadership role that Kirsty is vacating into two distinct senior roles."
