At Macmillan, Tim Greco will join the sales team in the newly created role of v-p field sales and publisher liaison, executive v-p of trade sales Jenn Gonzalez announced. Holly Ruck has been promoted to director of field sales.
The moves are the latest in a series of changes to Macmillan's sales division following the tapping of Gonzalez to succeed Alison Lazarus last fall. Since then, Gonzalez has restructured the division and issued a series of promotions and account reassignments.
Greco comes to Macmillan from DK, where he worked for nearly a decade, most recently as v-p of online, digital, clubs, and mass merchandise sales. Prior to that, he was responsible for special sales, Baker & Taylor, and Borders accounts, following an initial stint in telephone sales. His start date is June 10, and his direct reports include Ruck, Matt Johnson, Stuart Miller, Don O'Connor, and Gretchen Fredericksen.
Ruck is joining the field sales team as well, and will assume management responsibility for the independent field reps and independent bookstore accounts. In her previous seven years with the company, Ruck first served as national account manager for Barnes & Noble, selling children's books, before being promoted to international sales manager in 2016 and a senior manager shortly after. The field sales team will all directly report to Ruck following her transition into the new role later this month.
In addition, Macmillan president Don Weisberg and publishing strategy president Maya Mavjee have named Malati Chavali to the newly created role of v-p of publishing strategy operations, effective June 10. Chavali joined Macmillan in 2011 as e-book channel manager, and was promoted to director in 2014. She led the creation of the sales strategies department in 2016.
