Helen Atsma has been promoted to v-p and publisher at Ecco. Newly reporting to Atsma are Miriam Parker, v-p and associate publisher, and Allison Saltzman, senior art director.
Atsma joined Ecco—where she oversees the editorial team and acquires literary fiction, memoir, and narrative nonfiction—in December of 2019 as v-p and editorial director after a four-year stint as editorial director for fiction at HMH. Previously, she held positions at Grand Central Publishing, Henry Holt, and Little, Brown. At Ecco, she has worked with such authors as Elizabeth Acevedo, Rumaan Alam, Jami Attenberg, Nicole Chung, Patrick deWitt, Andrew J. Graff, Jennifer Haigh, Elizabeth McCracken, Anthony Veasna So, Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney, and Natasha Trethewey.
"Helen is a widely admired colleague and a passionate champion of the Ecco list," Harper division president and publisher Jonathan Burnham wrote in a note to staff. "I look forward to seeing her steer the imprint towards its next glorious chapter and beyond."
