HarperCollins has announced several changes to leadership across multiple imprints.
Abby West will join Amistad as v-p and editorial director, effective September 12. West was formerly director of inclusive content programming at Audible and has held editorial roles at such magazines as Essence, People, and Entertainment Weekly. In a statement, HarperOne president and publisher Judith Curr said that West's "outstanding record of innovation and strategic content creation perfectly positions her to develop and grow the editorial vision of Amistad.”
West succeeds Tracy Sherrod who stepped down from that position in April; she is now at Little, Brown.
Additionally, Tara Parsons has been promoted to v-p and deputy publisher for Amistad, as well as HarperCollins Español and HarperVia. Since 2018, Parsons has been v-p and associate publisher for the three aforementioned imprints, a role in which she built and oversaw the marketing departments while editing select titles. She also has previous experience at Simon & Schuster, Amazon, and Harlequin.
Finally, Laina Adler has been promoted to v-p and deputy publisher for HarperOne. Adler has been with HC for nearly 20 years and was most recently associate publisher. In her new role, she will continue to lead the HarperOne marketing and publicity team while deepening her involvement in acquisitions for platform-based titles.
